ALEXANDRIA (Louisiana), March 16: Sixteen-year-old Indian golfer Vihaan Jain has won the 2026 AJGA (the American Junior Golf Association) Preview tournament held at OakWing Golf Club in Alexandria, Louisiana.
He finished the event at four-under-par (212) on the 6,842-yard course, competing in challenging weather conditions.
In the Boys Division, Vihaan Jain of India delivered an impressive performance to secure the championship with a three-round total of 212. He posted rounds of 72, 68, and 72, demonstrating remarkable consistency and composure on the challenging OakWing layout.
The tournament was decided on the final hole, where Vihaan made a birdie on the 18th to clinch the title, becoming the first Indian to win this prestigious event.
Close behind were Neil Jolly and Logan Houl, who both finished tied for second place at 213 (−3).
The leaderboard remained tightly contested throughout the final round, with Parker Greene, Daniel Trousdale, Cole Laffere, and Tyce Fossum finishing tied for fourth place at 214 (−2).
In the Girls Division, Olive Brookshire of Texas emerged as champion after a strong performance over three rounds, demonstrating the high level of competition among the participating junior athletes.
A student at Laurel Springs School with a 3.97 GPA, Jain has consistently performed well on the international junior circuit.
His notable results include a Top-15 finish at the IMG Junior World Championship, a Top-20 finish at the FCG International Junior Championship, and back-to-back Top-20 medalist finishes at the U.S. Kids Golf Teen World Championships (2024 and 2025).
Currently ranked inside the Top 1500 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and Top 400 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard, Jain continues to build momentum as he pursues his goal of playing collegiate golf in the United States.
In February 2026, Vihaan Jain won the Indian Amateur Qualifier at the ITC Classic, making an eagle on the 18th hole to force a playoff, and then securing the win with a birdie in the playoff.
The tournament brought together promising golfers aged 12 to 19, providing them with the opportunity to compete in a professional tournament environment and gain valuable experience. The OakWing Golf Club course presented a demanding test, with strategic bunkering, water hazards, and fast greens challenging players’ shot-making ability and mental resilience.
The American Junior Golf Association continues to play a pivotal role in the development of young golfers worldwide. Many of today’s leading professionals—including Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, and Scottie Scheffler—began their competitive journeys through AJGA events. Their success highlights AJGA as a major stepping stone toward professional golf. |
