The South African, who started Sunday with a four-stroke lead, signed for a 69 to reach 21 under par 267 and finish one shot clear of American Jhared Hack and India’s Saptak Talwar.
The victory sees Daffue catapult to the top of the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings.
“I’m really pleased,” he said. “The first one gets something off your back, but this time, I believed I could do it. I knew I was comfortable, and I have brought some momentum from the last few weeks. I’ve beens patient. I’ve been working with a sports psychologist, and my moto has been ‘dogged, determination and patience’ and that helped me out there today."
Daffue had six holes of his third round remaining when he returned to Classic Golf and Country Club on Sunday morning, the 37-year-old carding a 67 to move to 18 under par after round three.
A slow start to his final round saw him level through eight holes before a solitary birdie at the ninth was followed by an eagle on the par five fourteenth.
Saptak Talwar, who was placed third and two shots off the lead after round three, had a slow start in round four as he made seven pars and a bogey on the first eight holes. Saptak, a winner on the DP World PGTI last week, then came roaring back with five birdies between the ninth and the 18th including a crucial 10 feet conversion on the 13th.
The 27-year-old Talwar earned US$27,000 (INR 24,30,000) for his effort that helped him continue in the lead in the DP World PGTI Order of Merit as his season’s earnings moved to INR 70,30,200.
Jhared Hack, winner of the DP World PGTI’s season-opener, scored a bogey-free 65 on the final day to finish joint runner-up along with Saptak at a total of 20-under 268. Jhared is currently placed second on the DP World PGTI’s merit list behind Talwar with season’s earnings of INR 64,96,800.

India Lifts T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy
AHMEDABAD, Mar 8: India completely outplayed New Zealand to clinch the T20 World Cup 2026 title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. It was a sensational performance by the Suryakumar Yadav-led side, as Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma provided the perfect start with half-centuries, while Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets to leave New Zealand completely stunned.
Chasing 256, New Zealand were bundled out for just 159 as India registered a comprehensive 96-run victory. With this win, India became the first team in history to win the T20 World Cup title three times. They also became the first team to win the trophy at home and the first side to defend the title, having won the T20 World Cup back in 2024 as well.
Powered by a blazing 89 from Sanju Samson and explosive half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma (52) and Ishan Kishan (54), India's top order went on a six-hitting spree to leave the New Zealand bowlers shell-shocked in the title clash, posting a massive 255 for five.
The total was the highest ever posted in a T20 World Cup final, capping a dominant display by the defending champions on the biggest stage of the tournament. India also became the first team to win the tournament.
The scoreboard pressure got to the Black Caps who desperately went after the Indian bowlers and ended up losing three quick wickets initially.
Their biggest hope Finn Allen (9) and the dangerous Glenn Phillips (5) perished early and with that New Zealand's chances of putting up a decent fight went up in smoke.
Axar Patel (3/27) and Jasprit Bumrah (4/15) had bulldozed the Kiwi innings and with the departure of Tim Seifert (52 off 26), the contest was reduced to a formality. Invited to bat, Samson and Abhishek went on the offensive, tearing into the Kiwi attack with audacious strokeplay.
The duo hammered boundaries at will and raised a breathtaking 98-run opening stand in just 7.1 overs, setting the tone for a massive total.
Batting with sheer authority and least respect for the Kiwi bowlers, India crossed the 200-run mark in 15 overs.
However, New Zealand succeeded in putting the brake on the run flow by dismissing Samson, Kishan and skipper Suryakumar Yadav (0) in a space of six balls. Pacer James Neesham took all three wickets in the 16th over to somehow stop the game from slipping away.
Hardik Pandya (18) did not last long but Shivam Dube (26 not out) provided a flourishing finish, creaming off 24 runs in the final over from Neesham.
India managed 52 in last five overs, thanks to Dube's fiery knock. |
