The Kolkata golfer, ranked third on the Indian Golf Union rankings in 2025, produced a composed finish to secure the championship.

Harjai Milkha Singh, son of four-time European Tour champion and Indian golf legend Jeev Milkha Singh of Chandigarh, who had led after the second and third rounds, slipped in the final round with a 76. His rounds of 73-66-69-76 gave him a total of 4-under 284, finishing runner-up.

Vinamra Anand of Uttar Pradesh finished third at even par 288 after rounds of 73-74-67-74. His 67 in the third round was the lowest score of the tournament.

He also represented India in several international events, finishing fifth at the Junior Dubai Desert Classic, 12th at the Royal Junior in Japan, seventh at the Singapore Junior Golf Championship, tied second at the FCG Callaway World Championship in the United States, and tied seventh at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.

CHANDI GARH, Mar 2: Vinamra Anand of Noida completed a commanding week at Chandigarh Golf Club to win the IGU Samarvir Sahi Amateur Golf Championship 2026 with a four round total of 9 under 279.

Vinamra had finished the 2025 season ranked 22nd on the Indian Golf Union (IGU) rankings.

The Uttar Pradesh golfer led from the opening day with 69 and then added 67, 73 and 70 to go wire to wire.

Last year, Vinamra competed in 14 ranked events and recorded his best as a third place finish at the IGU Eastern India Amateur Championship in December.

In 2024, his standout result was a victory at the IGU Delhi State NCR Cup in March, followed by a runner up finish at the Northern India Amateur Championship in August after a playoff loss.

Kanav Chauhan was 2nd at 285 while Chandigarh’s Ram Singh Mann was at 286 in 3rd place.

Maharashtra’s Shamit Dakhane moved up the leaderboard with rounds of 78-70-72-71 to finish fourth at 291.

Played from February 24 to 27, the championship once again honoured the memory of Samarvir Singh Sahi, a former national amateur who passed away suddenly in his youth.

The IGU Amateur circuit consists of 14 events of 72 holes each and is open to India’s top male amateur golfers. This circuit is used to identify teams to represent India at international events like the World and Asian Amateur Championships.
